Ensemble of folk dances and songs "MAKEDONKA" from Ohrid, R. Macedonia was established in 2006.

The group is consisted of: Folk dance group, Children folk dance group, Folk singers and orchestra. For the short period the groups made great success and got acknowledgements.

There are more than 250 members in Ohrid and neighboring towns practicing regularly in three age sections. Under the leadership of choreographer they develop their talent, and meet with colors and rhythms of the Macedonian folklore.

Our ensemble charms the audience with its attractive dances, costumes, music and beautiful voices. The Orchestra and the ensemble of folklore make inseparable unit on concerts and festivals.

The repertoire of the ensemble includes dances, which have their roots in the numerous ethnographic regions of Macedonia as:

·        "Tresenica" - female dance from Mariovo - the area nearby the town Prilep - Central Macedonia

·        "Kalajdzisko" - the choreography is from central part of the R. Macedonia, exactly from surrounding area of the town Veles

·        The dances and songs from "Egej" - part of Macedonia

·        "Drachevka" - dance from Drachevo, the area nearby town Skopje

·        "Sedenka" - choreography inspired by the Eastern Macedonian folklore

·        "Vodarki" - this is a female choreography and it is composition of a different dances and elements mostly from eastern Macedonia

·        "Osogovsko - malesevska pletenka"

·        "Folklorna Fantazija"

·        "Pirinsko proletno cveke"

·        "Komitsko"

·        "Kadrilj" (Russian dance)

Our ensemble is organizer of International and Traditional Folk Summer Festivals, named "St. Kiril and Metodij", "Dancing Ring" and "Ohrid Sun", all held in Ohrid.
